Description
A "quality" black pigeon will produce only black feathers, with no pattern or discrepancy viable. Some breeders also aim for a glossy sheen on their black birds.
Genotype
The black genotype is at minimum the combination of (heterozygous or homozygous) spread with the blue base colour. Other modifier genes may be added to darken or improve the colour, including dirty, smoky, sooty, and others.
