Re: Dilute / Reduced / Ice / Dominate Opal

Thanks for clearing that up Adam. I have a dominate opal cock I'm wanting to breed but don't want to accidently breed Dominate Opal to Dominate Opal. I also have the opportunity to pick up a cock expressing Dilute & gimple but carries Reduced and a reduced hen so was trying to figure it out. Lol...

Dilute / Reduced / Ice / Dominate Opal

Wondering the dominance of these genes and the inheritability. 1. If a male pigeon has both Dilute and Reduced will they both express or is there a dominant of the two? 2. If a male pigeon with both dilute and reduced mates with a female without these genes will the females produced always inherit b...

Re: Tortoiseshell Grizzles

Thanks again. I plan to breed the squab back to dad if it’s a hen to see what that produces. Took me a bit to find out why these grizzled were brown before I was able to locate the literature regarding the bronzing factor.

Thanks again

Re: Tortoiseshell Grizzles

Thanks Adam. I thought that might be the case but the dad is has a lot of brown / bronze color so wasn’t sure. Baby looks white but definitely has brown coming in.

Tortoiseshell Grizzles

When mating tortoiseshell grizzled pigeons; if you make two do you get another or do they get the stork pattern (more white) like other grizzles?

Re: Hello

Thank you both. Lotus; yes I have racing Homer's. Luckily for me there are a few people near by that have quality stock to pick from. I currently just have the 5 but their are 4 babies now. One baby is 10 days old, one a week and the other two just hatched. We are excited to finally have baby pigeon...

Unknown Bird

Hello, This is the bird I thought was a grizzle of some sort but it looks a lot like the kites with Rec red on falcon lofts site. It also resembles a t-pattern stork grizzle on Ron Huntley’s site. Any ideas? I’m thinking it’s T-check based on spread of pattern and it’s a blue based bird due to tail....

Hello

Hello everyone. I'm from the US; live in Louisiana and Work in Alaska (from Alaska). My daughter has been interested in Pigeons so 2 years ago we built a small loft and picked up 5 young pigeons. We planned to breed them and see what the gene pool provided as far as different phenotypes. However, it...
