TOPigeon pad question

I have an opportunity to buy a used TOPigeon V8 system and I'm most likely going to go ahead and get it, but a couple guys in the racing club were saying that the pad can only have a very thin piece of plywood over it, like a 1/4 inch (.635 centimeters), because it won't reliably read pigeons crossi...

Re: Color ID on this feral?

Thank you, Adam - I was considering keeping them and letting them breed just to see what they throw, purely out of curiosity, and I just might do that.

This is the cockbird, the hen is a blue bar.

Color ID on this feral?

The facilities guy at the local high school knows I keep pigeons and asked me to come get a pair of feral pigeons that have been living in an enclosed gutter for some time now. I was quite surprised when I pulled this one out. My first thought was that it's just sun-faded bronzing, but it's going to...

Re: Webbed feet in pigeons

I just found a squab with webbed toes in my loft and I'm trying to decide if it's a bad thing or not. I have both common homers and racing pigeons and will be focusing on the racing birds going forward (although I'm keeping my favorite homers). Its nestmate has regular toes. One webpage presented it...

Re: New Young Bird

Yay, I was right - I just might be learning something, after all! My next (silly) question is if it's blue or brown base color. It *looks* brown but I've never seen a brown pigeon or an indigo pigeon in person before, and since this is a young bird I wasn't sure if it was actually blue and would be ...

New Young Bird

I was just given this young bird today and I had a couple guesses as to what it is, but the more reading I do, the more confused I get so I just figured I'd ask here and save a few brain cells. My best guess is it's an indigo - how far off am I? One photo is in direct sunlight and the other tw...

How to tell whose squab is whose when fostering?

If you have a pair foster an egg or squab from another pair, other than putting them with foster parents that can't possibly produce that color squab, is there any other way of safely "marking" the squab so you can tell which one it is? You can obviously mark the egg but once it hatches th...

Tiger grizzle or grizzle/spread?

I have this hen that was one of the first birds I was given when I started with pigeons last year, so I have no idea what her parents were. She looks like a black tiger grizzle but she has some feathers that are mixed black and white, so I thought she was actually a blue spread with grizzle. However...

Greetings from the US

Hello all, I haven't participated in a forum in YEARS but since the pigeon Facebook groups get weird and annoying very quickly (too many random people from the other side of the world sending me messages asking if my birds are for sale...) I figured this would be worth joining to learn a thing or th...
