Breed name in local language: Merpati Kupu-Kupu
Breed name in English: Butterfly Pigeons
Location: Indonesia
Description: Kupu Kupu flies slowly, much like a butterfly insect. Initially called Crested Kucir Iplik, ,Iplik name is taken from its slow / iplik style flight (Javanese). In the 1970s , the hobby of keeping pigeons in Indonesia was more inclined towards keeping fast-flying pigeons, so these slow flight bird were called Crested Iplik.
Kupu Kupu flies slowly and flies not far from the house, a good bird flies vertically just like Sky Cutter Pigeons, either when it goes up or down. The flight is very high, above the clouds. There are actually 2 basic colors black and white with a gray or black spot on the neck (commonly called "brues"). but there are also dark ones.
These have short and stocky body, medium-sized head, small beak, similar to the beak of a Java Sungut, a crested head, while the shape of the tail when held will bloom / form a fan.Kupu Kupu pigeons come from the Jogjakarta area and around Central Java, are cultivated by rural farmers as a means of entertainment after working on their fields and rice fields.
