White pigeons with colored eye from grizzle

Post by Blackbell »

A friend of mine has grizzles that are almost all white that look like they are reds so I am assuming they are homozygous recessive red grizzles. These birds have a eye that I would like to try to get in an all white bird. If I breed two of the original birds that have the same genes will I be able to get an all white bird? Thanks

To breed whites with coloured eyes use grizzle and ash red. Preferably homozygous for both. Adding spread and pied can also help.

Adam don’t know if you can tell from the picture but I think that is a ash red grizzle so I should try to breed two of them together or put to a black spread?

Yea it looks like it, doesn't have a white beak so unlikely to be a very white recessive red.
