Unusual Color Baby

Hi Adam,

This pair of mine (male on right, female on left) have produced baby with brown check, brown wings and brown tail. What do we call this color?

As you've said, it appears to be brown. It could also be silver, sometimes they've hard to tell apart in photos.

Either way, the baby is a hen.

(Also, anyone is welcome to answer, no need to address it to me :lol: )

it's brown....and fluffy ....dilutes don't have so much fluff on them and they have a a more hempseed color than brown

Hello Mr Archer, your follower and admirer of work. I just wonder how where able to tell from the picture that it's a hen... I have some birds that I thought they are a pair but both grew up to be males

We know it is a hen because brown is a sex linked mutation. Neither parent was brown, and since hens cannot carry it we know the father was the source of the gene, and he has passed it onto his daughter.
