Tippler x feral F1

Post by Johannes »

This is an interesting little chap. I found his mum last year. She is a feral pigeon. I picked her off the street one February morning tipping down with rain and freezing. She was only recently fledged and just sat there with wings hanging and head down. Every body just walked on by. I thought she was a gonna but took her home.

She has grown into a beautifully health bird. I do let her out with my young birds and she comes back in after a few days once she’s hungry. Any way, she paired off with an ancient tippler cock and I just left them. She hatched a single youngster and this is him. I didn’t think the old bird was still fertile. I didn’t ring him.

Any way, he’s a feral x Bowden tippler F1 I suppose and he flies right up with the other birds and he stays up a good five hours. Like his mother, he comes in after a few days and will sit on the roof even in high winds or driving rain.

Interesting, I think ferals are unfortunately overlooked but quite amazing birds.

Adam that’s an incredible comment. I’ve always thought so too.
