When a cock carries ash red cock and brown base colors, does the brown base color bleed through? Do you have any pictures of an ash red carrying brown cocks?

As far as I know, yes, but I've never seen one in person. I might try to breed one this year to check.

Would you (1) pair a Brown cock to a ash red hen? Or (2) your Ash red Cock carrying blue to a Brown hen? I think the percent of success with pair (1) will be better than pair (2).

I'd pair a brown hen to a homozygous ash red cock, that way all cocks are what we're after: ash red split for brown.

Visually it is easier to identify a Brown cock (Zbr/Zbr recessive to Blue Zbl & AshRed Zar) than a homozygous AshRed Cock (Zar/Zar dominant over Blue Zbl & Brown Zbr).
We also want auto-sex squabs so that we could tell which squabs are the male ones as early as possible (once feathering begin).
At any rate, if you draw the Punnet square the cock squabs from either paring will be AshRed/Brown (Zar/Zbr) - only the hen squabs will be different:
1) Brown Cock (Zbr/Zbr homozygous recessive) x AshRed Hen (Zar/W hemizygous dominant) --> AshRed/Brown (Zar/Zbr) male squabs & Brown (Zbr/W) female squabs ---> very easy to sex the squabs when feathering begins.
2) Homozygous AshRed Cock (Zar/Zar) x Brown Hen (Zbr/W hemizygous recessive) --> AshRed/Brown (Zar/Zbr) male squabs & AshRed (Zar/W) female squabs ---> cannot differentiate the sex of the squabs at start of feathering.

So, I would go with marksam's Pair (1) using a Brown cock & a AshRed Hen
